      Hello!!
I have been looking at information about ‘Sadie Lake’.
What country are we in? Canada, where my Uncle Dean and Cousin Bree used to live.
Which continent is it in? North America
How many people live there? ‘Sadie Lake’ is in a very sparsely populated (which means not many people live there), part of Northwestern Ontario, Ontario is a Canadian Province, which is slightly like our counties. The biggest town near to Sadie lake is Thunder Bay, which has a population of ‘108,359’.
What is the weather like: Ontario has seasons like us, however the lake area makes the climate different to other areas, with fog and cooler nights. Temperatures in the winter are very cold.
What language do the inhabitants speak: No official language, but English is considered to be the main language, French is also accessible.
What is the landscape like: Sadie Lake is a very small lake, 0.02 km to the centre, but it is surrounded by many many other lakes, the landscape appears rugged and hilly from the map.
Animals that live here: Artic Fox, Bald Eagle, Deer, Raccoon, Skunk, we think??
Flag of Canada: Is Red/White/Red Stripe, with a red maple leaf in the centre of the White.
What time is it: Ontario is 5 Hours behind us, so they are still asleep when we get to school.
Famous landmarks: Niagara Falls is in Ontario.
      See you soon
      Sadie

    Hi,

I’ve been finding out about a place called Dona Emma.

What Country are we in – Dona Emma is a small town in Santa Catarina, Brazil. In 2012, the town celebrated their fiftieth anniversary. They hold an annual festival on the 17 May so not long to wait for their next party! It’s fair to say that Dona Emma is in a sparsely populated part of Brazil and it takes about two hours to get to a town of any reasonable size.

Which Continent is it on – South America which is roughly double the size of Europe.
How many people live there – About 3000 people live in Dona Emma. Interestingly the population of Dona Emma has doubled in the last twenty years.
What the weather is like – At this time of year it is very humid with temperatures ranging from mid twenties to low thirties degrees celsius so a lot hotter than here! With the sunny skies in the day, it can get quite cool in the evening at seven to eight degrees celsius.
What the landscape is like – It appears to be slightly hilly, at 370 metres above sea level.
Which language do the inhabitants speak – Portuguese is most commonly spoken language in Brazil, however it appears that Dona Emma’s inhabitants are mostly from German, Italian and Polish backgrounds.
Are there any major landmarks – One of Brazil’s most famous landmarks is Christ the Redeemer statue which stands looking over the huge city of Rio de Janiero.
What crops do they grow – Very fertile land so numerous cereals are grown.
What are some of the unique animals that live there – Lots to chose from including crab eating foxes (yes that’s what it’s really called!), ocelot (a type of leopard) and white lipped peccary (like hogs).
Time Difference – Dona Emma is four hours behind England. Children are going to school when we are having our lunch.

It has been a lot of fun finding all about Dona EMMA!

    Emma G
    xx

  3. Sophie Donovan says:

Mount Sophie is in Cook County, Minnesota, USA, which is on the North American continent. We don’t think that anyone lives there because it is a mountain! Mount Sophie is close to the Canadian border. The weather can range from being nice to being snowy and windy. The people who live near Mount Sophie speak American English. Mount Sophie is 550m tall.

Well done! I tried to choose a range of different landscape features so that we could compare them all to where we live.
